The Davis Phinney Foundation, whose mission is to help people living with Parkinson’s disease to live well today, recently published an article that outlines the tools available to help diagnose Parkinson’s including the Syn-One Test® offered by CND Life Sciences.
Neurological disorders like Parkinson’s disease can be difficult to diagnose, particularly early in its course when symptoms are mild. Studies suggest that patients are misdiagnosed over 30% of the time even when seen by neurological specialists, despite their best efforts to conduct an accurate clinical evaluation.
The post covers the benefits and limitations of genetic testing, MRIs, the Syn-One Test, and other options that patients may want to discuss with their neurologist, noting that tissue and fluid-based tests are “…a major development in Parkinson’s research…improving healthcare providers’ confidence in diagnoses.”
*Misdiagnosis rate can be over 30%, based on analysis of published scientific literature including Mov Disord. 2018 Oct; 33(10): 1551–1554.
