Who can participate?
- Men and women, 50-100 years old
- People with either a confirmed diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease or REM sleep behavior disorder
Please note that individuals who have severe vascular disease, are allergic to the local anesthesia needed for the skin biopsies, use blood thinners (aspirin or Plavix alone are allowed), have impaired wound healing, or have a history of scarring or keloid formation are not eligible to participate.
What do you have to do?
- Complete an in-person interview, questionnaires, and clinical assessments that take about 2 hours

Study Information
The clinical study is a 100-patient multicenter research study. The goal is to help doctors learn more about how a protein called phosphorylated alpha-synuclein (P-SYN) changes over time in people’s bodies. P-SYN is found in the nerves of the skin in people with conditions like Parkinson’s disease (PD) and REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD). By tracking changes in P-SYN, researchers hope to improve the way we diagnose these conditions and catch them earlier.
